Overview
A small law firm located in Georgetown, South Carolina, seeks a legal assistant/paralegal to assist with closings, real estate, and other legal matters. The administrative assistant will act as the front-line for the firm, maintain a professional and friendly face for clients and industry partners, and assist with various clerical tasks, such as opening files, scheduling appointments/reminders, and gathering information. Prior experience in law firms is not required but is a plus. Compensation commensurate with experience.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; Associates degree or higher preferred
- Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with clients, co-workers, industry partners, and the general public
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a timely manner
- Ability to think and act proactively and anticipate the needs of attorneys, clients, and industry partners
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Excellent organization skills
- Strong computer skills and a demonstrated ability to learn new applications
Duties
- Provide administrative and substantive support across various legal practice areas including real estate law/closings, estate planning, probate, and more.
- Assist with client intake and set up and manage clients and matters using matter management system (Clio) and settlement software (SoftPro).
- Assist with client communication by scheduling meetings and obtaining information while maintaining client confidentiality.
- Prioritize and execute tasks for multiple matters in a timely manner while demonstrating poise and flexibility in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple client matters simultaneously.
- Strong written communication skills for drafting correspondence; good proofreading abilities to ensure accuracy of deeds and other documents.
- Effective verbal communication skills for client communications and professional interactions; demonstrated phone etiquette.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel PowerPoint) for document creation and data management and the ability to learn new applications easily.
- Demonstrated project management capabilities to coordinate tasks efficiently within a busy legal office setting; experience supporting attorneys in transactional matters is preferred.
Pay: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour
Expected hours: 37.5 per week
