- Provides leadership in the coordination of cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment between senior management decisions and project plans
- Maintains a comprehensive and coordinated definition of the project scope; Ensures project documentation is complete, current, and archived appropriately
- Develops project plans and applies gated development processes (entry, identification, execution, and closeout)
- Manages the project and the project team in a manner sensitive to risk, complexity and the economy of resources
- Tracks and reports project status to key stakeholders, senior management, and others as needed
- Leads the definition and development of product target profiles, team goals, and guides the team in decision-making and issue resolution, including subsequent review by senior managers and others
- Facilitates, oversees, and manages the project team
- Oversees planning, tracking and adjustment of the project schedule at both the work breakdown structure (WBS) detail level and rolled-up levels, and for identifying and managing the critical path and critical path activities
- Manages activities of the team to ensure execution of day-to-day aspects of the operational plan; Supports financial planning process
- Prepares reports on all aspects of the global product development effort from concept through commercialization; Provides leadership in the development of the project scope using cross-functional input and manages scope adjustments
- Bachelor's degree in scientific or business field. Advanced scientific and/or business degree preferred
- Typically requires 12 years of pharmaceutical environment experience that includes project management and leading several multi-functional teams
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to articulate concepts and ideas in effective manner to senior management
- Excellent skills in using program management tools, such as MS Project and PowerPoint
- Ability to develop and motivate team members
- Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example: If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience.
