Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for our Pre / Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The ideal candidate will possess a strong clinical background and the ability to provide exceptional patient care in a fast-paced environment. As a PACU RN, you will be responsible for preparing patients to go to the Operating Room for their scheduled procedures in a safe manner, and monitoring patients recovering from anesthesia, ensuring their safety, and providing support during their recovery process. This role requires critical thinking skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
Duties
- Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition pre/post-anesthesia
- Administer medications as prescribed and manage IV lines
- Assess patient recovery progress and report any complications to the physician
- Provide education to patients and families regarding post-operative care
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure seamless patient transitions from surgery to recovery
Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) in New York State in good standing
- Experience in outpatient settings is preferred
- Strong knowledge of internal medicine practices and patient care protocols
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Ability to handle high-stress situations with professionalism and compassion
