Role Description The Quality Control Inspector is a full-time, on-site role based in Waterbury, CT. This role is responsible for inspecting steel structures and components at various stages of production to verify compliance with drawings, specifications, welding codes, and DOT requirements. Daily tasks include performing dimensional checks, visual and non-destructive inspections, documenting findings, and collaborating with engineering, production, and welding teams to resolve nonconformities. The inspector maintains accurate records of inspections, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and participates in internal audits to uphold AISC and AWS standards. This position also involves communicating quality issues clearly, recommending corrective actions, and helping ensure safety and compliance in the manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in Quality Control and Inspection for steel fabrication or related manufacturing environments.
- Experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Management, including documentation, standards compliance, and process improvement.
- Strong Communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and reporting inspection results clearly and objectively.
- Familiarity with AISC, AWS D1.1/D1.5, and DOT specifications for structural steel work is highly beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and technical specifications.
- Attention to detail, strong observational skills, and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- Prior experience in structural steel, welding, or construction-related manufacturing preferred.
- Relevant certification in quality inspection, welding inspection, or a related technical field is a plus. WE WILL GET YOU CWI IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ALREADY!!!!
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in manufacturing, welding, or engineering is advantageous.
