Griffin Health is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Patient Services Charge Specialist to support our Outpatient Psychiatry team. This role is essential to ensuring accurate billing, coding, and insurance processing, while also providing general clerical and administrative support. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a busy behavioral health environment, has strong knowledge of medical billing procedures, and is proficient in managing electronic medical records.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide administrative and clerical support for daily office functions in the Outpatient Psychiatry department.
Maintain and manage the department’s electronic medical record (EMR) system with a focus on accuracy and confidentiality.
Perform billing and coding functions using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.
Process insurance claims, verify coverage, and ensure timely follow-up on denials or outstanding balances.
Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure accurate documentation and billing compliance.
Stay up to date with payer guidelines and regulatory requirements related to behavioral health billing.
Assist patients with billing-related inquiries and provide clear communication regarding account status and insurance coverage.
Qualifications:
High school diploma required.
Certified Professional Coder (CPC) preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a busy medical office required.
Experience in a behavioral health or psychiatry office setting preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and medical billing software required.
Strong understanding of insurance company policies, billing regulations, and coding standards.
Familiarity with medical terminology, behavioral health diagnoses, and basic mathematics.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
