Job Description

GridironIT is seeking a Cloud Migration Engineer to support a large-scale VMware to AWS migration initiative. This role will be responsible for executing server migrations in a high-volume, factory-style delivery model aligned to AWS’s Rapid Migration Framework (RMF), leveraging AWS-native tools and established runbooks. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with VMware environments, AWS infrastructure, and server migration activities in enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

Execute end-to-end migration activities for VMware-based workloads to AWS, including pre-migration validation, replication monitoring, test launches, and production cutovers using AWS Rapid Migration Framework (RMF) best practices.

Support wave-based migration planning within an RMF-aligned migration factory and coordinate with application owners and stakeholders to ensure readiness.

Utilize tools such as AWS Application Migration Service (MGN) and AWS Cloud Migration Factory (CMF) to perform migrations at scale.

Troubleshoot issues, validate migrated environments, and contribute to documentation and continuous improvement of migration runbooks and processes supporting RMF delivery models.

Required Qualifications

• 3–7 years of experience in cloud, infrastructure, or system engineering
• Experience supporting server migrations, data center migrations, or cloud transformation efforts
• Familiarity with AWS Rapid Migration Framework (RMF) or similar migration factory models
• Experience with AWS migration tools (MGN, CMF, DMS)
• Experience with AWS core services, including EC2, VPC, and IAM
• Hands-on experience with VMware (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter)
• Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, OS, and networking layers
• Ability to work in Agile or sprint-based delivery environments
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• US Citizen

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Experience supporting large-scale migration programs (1,000 servers)
• Scripting or automation experience (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
• AWS Certification (e.g., Solutions Architect – Associate)
• Familiarity with dependency mapping and application architecture
• Experience supporting federal, DoD, or regulated environments

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range: $100,000 - $160,000 (Compensation is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, work experience, skills, education, certifications, seniority, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.)
