Grid-Line Transportation, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join our Accounting Department. This role executes all transactional accounting functions, ensuring financial activity is recorded, reconciled, and maintained with precision and timeliness. The Accounting Associate supports accounts payable, payroll assistance, reconciliations, and purchasing requests while safeguarding accuracy, compliance, and audit readiness. This position is critical to keeping the Accounting Department running smoothly and providing clean, reliable financial data for oversight and decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Execute transactional accounting functions across all company entities, including accounts payable, invoice entry, reconciliations, payroll assistance, and purchasing requests.
- Process vendor invoices from entry to GL coding, ensuring accuracy and alignment with department SOPs before manager review.
- Assist with payroll processing for drivers and staff, ensuring timesheets, deductions, and submissions are accurate and on time.
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts regularly, investigating charges and escalating questionable items to the Accounting Manager.
- Maintain complete, organized, and audit-ready electronic records for invoices, receipts, and reconciliations.
- Support audits, tax preparation, and financial reporting by supplying reconciled data and supporting schedules.
- Communicate with vendors, staff, truck driverss, and department managers to clarify charges, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate cost allocation.
- Contribute to process improvements and system transitions by testing workflows and validating accuracy.
What We're Looking For:
- Proven experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial operations.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, payroll assistance, and reconciliations.
- Familiarity with GL coding, financial documentation, and accounting workflows.
- High attention to detail with the ability to identify errors, unnecessary costs, and discrepancies.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate, audit-ready records.
- Professional communication skills with vendors, staff, and managers.
- Ability to work with urgency, precision, and consistency in alignment with SOPs.
- Proficiency with accounting systems and tools; willingness to adapt to new technologies.
- Integrity in handling confidential financial information.
