Summary of the role: The Philanthropy Department develops and deploys philanthropic resources and advances strategies that strengthen regional fund development in support of GRID’s mission. Our vision is an equitable, scalable and sustainable organization. This position reports directly to the Director of Corporate Partnerships and works directly with one other Major Gifts Officer, Corporate Partnerships to support strategies that secure upwards of $9 million in revenue from corporate sources annually and leverage our corporate network to increase investment and impact. This position works as part of a larger team of Headquarters Philanthropy staff to help meet ambitious fundraising goals in support of GRID Alternatives’ mission. Our corporate supporters include leading companies in the renewable energy industry, and our base of support is growing in other industries, especially with financial institutions, tech, and socially responsible companies and enterprises. This is an exciting time for GRID and the team to strengthen innovative solar+ programs and projects in a fast-paced, mission-based, values-driven organization. The Corporate Partnerships Development Officer II will develop and execute a fundraising strategy for prospective corporate funders, primarily at national or multi-regional levels, including: managing all aspects of developing proposals in response to RFPs and funding notices, overseeing ongoing research to identify and qualify new funding opportunities, managing contract review and negotiations in coordination with GRID staff, developing customized stewardship plans for each partner in their portfolio, and coordinating grant reporting and data tracking. This also includes: Responsibilities: Solicit 5-, 6- and 7-figure cash gifts/grants and in-kind support from a variety of corporations Lead cross-functional, cross-departmental, and cross-regional collaboration on all matters related to national corporate partnerships and fundraising strategies Promote partnerships to external audiences via branding opportunities, strategic communications deliverables, and storytelling activities in collaboration with the Communications team Maintain progress and momentum across various partnership projects, within different departments of the organization Coordinate with program staff to gather required information to produce concept notes, letters of inquiry, proposals and reports Ensure that corporate fundraising practices across the organization are strongly aligned with GRID’s values of Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity Provide support as needed to staff leading funded programs and projects during contractual discussions and negotiations and throughout the partnership term Monitor grant agreements and contracts, grant reporting and other related paperwork and deliverables connected with funded programs and projects Promote a Culture of Philanthropy across the organization Candidates for this position are comfortable with fundraising research, grant writing, partnership coordination, interdepartmental communication, and tracking metrics Requirements What you need to bring to this role… Passionate about clean energy, affordable housing, and environmental and social justice work 3+ years of corporate development and/or non-profit fundraising experience, including proven success with direct gift solicitation, grant writing, contract negotiation, and ethical fundraising communications preferably in the energy, environmental or sustainability sectors Written communication skills: ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals and reports Highly organized with acute attention to detail Excellent project management and problem-solving skills; experience with project management software preferred Demonstrated capacity to think strategically and has excellent collaboration skills, including the ability to coordinate and communicate effectively and efficiently with a variety of internal team members and remotely Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Suite, and Adobe Acrobat to fulfill technical and formatting proposal requirements Experience preferred using Salesforce.com CRM or similar database systems Candidates are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet all of the preferred qualifications. Compensation: The compensation range for this fulltime position is $80k-$95k annually. The base pay that will actually be offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, experience and take into account internal equity. This position may require up to 25% out-of-town travel to regional offices and special projects such as org-wide celebrations, team building exercises, etc. Availability to work nights and weekends may very rarely be required. GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use.
