Overview
Join our dynamic team as a Junior Estimator and become a vital part of our construction team! We are seeking a motivated individual to support the preparation of bids, quantity takeoffs, subcontractor engagement, and project cost estimates for commercial construction projects. This role is ideal for an individual looking to grow their career in preconstruction and estimating while working alongside experienced project and estimating professionals. The Junior Estimator will review plans and specifications, assist with pricing and bid submissions, and help maintain accurate estimating records and databases. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, proficient with Microsoft Office, and eager to develop into a full Estimator role within a growing construction company.
Duties
- Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical documents to interpret project scope and requirements
- Assist in preparing detailed cost estimates using estimating software such as and Bluebeam
- Gather and analyze material costs, labor rates, and subcontractor quotes to develop accurate budgets
- Support the review of construction management software data to track project costs and progress
- Collaborate with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients through effective negotiation to secure competitive pricing
- Aid in managing project budgets by monitoring costs, identifying variances, and implementing cost control measures
- Assist in the preparation of spreadsheets for estimating material requirements, pricing strategies, and cost management reports
Experience
- Basic understanding of construction industry practices, including blueprint reading and technical drawing interpretation
- Familiarity with estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar programs is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for spreadsheets and data analysis
- Previous experience with Bluebeam or other construction management software is a plus
- Knowledge of construction site operations, contracts, and project management principles is advantageous
- Strong communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration
- Construction industry experience or coursework related to commercial construction estimation is highly desirable
