Job Description
 Title: Greyson Decoration Den Lead

Position Summary
The Greyson Decoration Den Lead oversees the performance and continued development of Greyson’s in-house Detroit decoration facility. This hands-on role owns the end-to-end operation—from receipt of blank goods through decoration, quality assurance, and shipment—with accountability for safety, quality, service, cost, capacity, and team performance. The Lead will run a fast-paced operation supporting wholesale and direct-to-consumer channels and build the practices, team, and infrastructure required for growth. This role reports to the VP of Production.

Key Responsibilities

Production Planning, Workflow & Performance

  • Own the complete workflow from receipt of blank goods through decoration and shipment; translate demand and priorities into production plans, staffing schedules, and capacity requirements that achieve delivery dates while balancing productivity, quality, cost, and service.
  • Establish productivity standards and standard operating procedures across embroidery, direct-to-film transfer, heat application, and other decoration methods; continuously improve workflows, equipment utilization, labor allocation, facility layout, and automation.
  • Own performance reporting and a monthly dashboard covering capacity, throughput, on-time completion, labor productivity, cost per unit, quality, rework, order accuracy, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop reliable production cost models and initiatives that improve the cost effectiveness of in-house decoration compared with external contract decorators.
  • Own and optimize Monday Work Management boards and workflow automations, maintaining accurate real-time visibility into order status, priorities, quantities, and completion dates.
  • Partner cross-functionally to resolve incomplete order information, garment availability, artwork or decoration questions, and other constraints.

Quality, Inventory & Facility Operations

  • Oversee inbound transfers, outbound shipments, inventory accuracy, and procurement of thread, backing, transfer materials, packaging, and other production supplies.
  • Establish and enforce quality standards for all decoration methods, including inspection requirements, approved samples, defect criteria, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance, service coordination, and preventive-maintenance programs to minimize downtime and protect production capacity.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and professional facility in accordance with company policies and applicable workplace requirements.

Facility Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, develop, and hold accountable the facility team, including responsibility for workforce planning, scheduling, training, performance management, and organizational development.
  • Partner with Human Resources and Production leadership to recruit and onboard employees as required to support business growth and evolving production needs.

Strategic Growth, Technology & Business Continuity

  • Evaluate new equipment, technologies, decoration capabilities, and external service providers that could improve quality, capacity, speed, or cost.
  • Develop contingency plans and qualified external decoration capacity to support demand surges, specialized capabilities, and business continuity.
  • Own the operational planning and execution required to scale the facility, including recommendations regarding space, equipment, technology, staffing, workflow, and capital investment.
  • Support the evaluation, planning, and implementation of future facility expansion or relocation initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in apparel manufacturing, production, decoration, fulfillment, or facility operations, including significant leadership responsibility.
  • Demonstrated success leading a fast-paced production operation with accountability for people, quality, service, cost, and output.
  • Experience within apparel decoration, embroidery, direct-to-film transfer, screen printing, heat application, apparel manufacturing, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Strong production-planning and operational-management capabilities, including experience with capacity planning, inventory control, material planning, quality management, equipment maintenance, logistics, and changing production priorities.
  • Proven ability to recruit, train, develop, and manage hourly production teams while establishing clear expectations, accountability, and effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Demonstrated experience developing standard operating procedures, productivity benchmarks, performance dashboards, cost analyses, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to translate operational data into sound decisions and clear recommendations for production teams and executive leadership.
  • Experience with work-management, production-tracking, ERP, or manufacturing systems; advanced proficiency with Monday Work Management is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop, with a working understanding of how to review and validate print-ready artwork for direct-to-film transfer, including file format, resolution, color, sizing, and other production requirements.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable maintaining hands-on involvement in day-to-day facility operations.
  • Must be based in the Detroit area and able to work on-site daily.
