About the Position:
As an Intake Management Officer with Grey Dog Security, you serve as both the first point of contact and a trusted guardian for individuals seeking shelter and safety. This role combines compassionate hospitality with professional security service—helping guests transition into a supportive environment while ensuring that everyone within the facility remains safe and respected.
For most guests entering the shelter, you are the first face they see—a representative of both the shelter’s mission of care and Grey Dog Security’s values of integrity, vigilance, and respect. You will warmly welcome guests, conduct safety screening procedures, and collaborate closely with the shelter’s intake management, nursing, and triage teams to maintain a calm, orderly, and secure environment.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Reception & Screening:
- Warmly greet and assist guests, visitors, and staff entering the facility.
- Conduct bag checks and metal detector screenings to ensure no dangerous or prohibited items are brought into the building.
- Maintain a professional and welcoming demeanor at all times.

- Safety & Security Operations:
- Perform perimeter and facility checks to ensure safety and compliance with shelter policies.
- Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to deter disruptive or unsafe behavior.
- Calmly de-escalate tense or emotionally charged situations using trauma-informed techniques.
- Respond quickly to emergencies and follow established security and incident reporting protocols.
- Perform perimeter and facility checks to ensure safety and compliance with shelter policies.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Partner with the shelter’s Intake, Nursing, and Triage teams to support a coordinated guest process.
- Communicate promptly with appropriate staff about safety concerns, behavioral issues, or incidents.
- Write clear, factual, and timely incident reports when required.

- Facility Support:
- Assist in maintaining general order and cleanliness within shared spaces.
- Support the intake process by guiding guests through procedures and answering basic questions about services.
- Contribute to a positive environment that reflects the shelter’s values of care, dignity, and respect.
