This posting is for a PART TIME position. 

 

Employees would work approximately 25-29 hours per week.  Hours will vary according to building/department. 

 

Job Title:  Accompanist

 

Department: Instruction
 
Education Level and Certification: High school diploma.  For paraeducator positions that work in Title I-funded programs, the paraeducator must have a high school diploma and either an associate’s degree, two years of college, or a passing score on a state or local assessment that demonstrates their ability to assist with instruction in reading, writing, and math.
 
Reports To: Building Administration / Vocal Music Teacher
 
Performance Responsibilities and Job Tasks

  1. Provide Piano Accompanimen - Accompany choir, soloists, ensembles, and theatrical productions during rehearsals and performances.

  2. Collaborate with Directors and Teachers - Work closely with music and choir directors to understand musical goals and adjust accompaniment accordingly.

  3. Prepare and Practice Music Independentl - Learn and rehearse assigned music in advance of scheduled rehearsals and performances.

  4. Sight-Read and Adjust Quickly - Sight-read music with accuracy and adapt to changes on the spot during live rehearsals or performances.

  5. Support Rehearsal Flow - Provide musical cues, intros, cutoffs, and transitions as needed to aid rehearsal efficiency.

  6. Assist with Student Learning - Support student vocalists and instrumentalists during practice and performance settings.

  7. Provide recordings or play parts for student practice when appropriate.

  8. Attend Required Events - Participate in all concerts, contests, festivals, and rehearsals as designated by the music teacher or director.

  9. Serve as a role model to all students.
  10. Serve as a positive member of the community in a way that does not negatively affect the District’s reputation or image in the community.
  11. Refrain from engaging in conduct that interferes with the operations of the District, including the education of students.
  12. Develop and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with other staff and administration.
  13. Adhere to all District policies, rules, regulations, and supervisory directives.
  14. Maintain confidentiality of information concerning staff, students, and parents in accordance with law and District rules.
  15. Adhere to the code of ethics of the District and the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE Rule 27).

 

FLSA Exempt Status: Non-exempt.
 
At-Will Position. This position is an “at-will” position and may be terminated, with or without cause, at any time in the sole discretion of the Superintendent or Superintendent’s designee.

 

Essential Functions: The essential functions of the Paraeducator position include: (1) regular, dependable in-person attendance on the job; (2) the ability to perform the identified tasks and performance responsibilities which require effective teaching and communication skills; and (3) the ability to perform the following identified physical requirements.
