What are the responsibilities and job description for the Heavy Auto/Equipment Mechanic position at Gresham Transportation Services?
Job Description
- Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed in the shop.
- Inspect fleet and identify and report potentially dangerous equipment to management.
- Repair and troubleshoot major components, including, but not limited to, engine, transmissions, and differentials.
- Keeps a safe, clean, productive, and efficient work area.
- Respond to road calls and complete on the road repairs as assigned.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturing and company policies and procedures.
- Document and record all repair and maintenance actions on work orders.
- Work with management to order appropriate levels of parts and supplies for vehicles.
Job Requirements
- Must be able to obtain appropriate ASE certification or ability to take ASE courses.
- ASE certification in medium-heavy truck series, school bus or auto maintenance series, and light repair series is preferred but not required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of general mechanic experience is required
- Minimum of two (2) years of transportation industry experience, preferably paratransit.
- Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds
- Positive attitude. Provide exceptional customer service.
Other Requirements
- At least 21 years of age
- Speaks and understands English
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Must have 3 years of continuous and verifiable post high school employment or a combined 3 years of verifiable full or part-time student status
- Possess a strong DMV record: Licensed for at least 3 years, active GA driver's license, no more than 2 moving violations in the last three years.
