Qualifications: State of Oregon Teaching License with Music K-12 endorsement, and current First Aid Card.

Compensation: Salary and stipends will be prorated based on FTE and start/end dates of the position.

• 2025-2026 Annual Salary Range $24,756 - $49,031 (Based on 192/193 Day Contract). Initial placement on the salary schedule is based on education and contracted licensed experience.
• As a licensed employee, you are eligible to receive a specialty stipend of $937 if certified Multilingual in Spanish, Arabic, Ukrainian, or Russian. Must pass a standardized proficiency test of language.

JOB TITLE: Teacher - Music

Job Summary: The job of "Teacher - Music" is done for the purpose/s of developing students' music appreciation and skills through implementing District approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; developing lesson plans, addressing specific educational needs of students; providing a safe and optimal learning environment, and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

Essential Job Functions

• Assesses student's musical skills for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding students' progress, expectations, goals, etc
• Collaborates with school personnel, parents and various community agencies for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes, developing solutions and planning curriculum
• Demonstrates methods required to perform assignments for the purpose of modeling the skills necessary to perform the tasks safely and/or accurately
• Instructs students for the purpose of improving their music appreciation and musical skills (e.g. voice and instrumentation)
• Maintains musical instruments, equipment and supplies for the purpose of ensuring availability of required materials
• Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and an optimal learning environment
• Prepares teaching materials and reports (e.g. grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of implementing lesson plans and providing documentation of teacher and student progress
• Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code, district and/or school policies
• Supports classroom teachers and other school personnel for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of classroom goals and individual student plans
• Plans concerts and recitals for the purpose of displaying student performances
  
  

Other Job Functions

• Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
• Participates in various meetings (e.g. parent conferences, in-service training, site meetings, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information and/or meeting credential requirements
• Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of supporting teacher's expectations, developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment

Skills, Knowledge And/or Abilities Required

• Skills to motivate students in one or more areas of music, communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds, direct support personnel, evaluate performance.
• Knowledge of curriculum, education code, district policies, musical instruction and instrumentation.
• Abilities to stand and walk for prolonged periods, perform a variety of specialized and responsible tasks, maintain records, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, other school personnel, meet schedule and deadlines. Significant physical abilities include lifting/carrying, reaching/handling, talking/hearing conversations, near/far visual acuity/depth perception/accommodation/field of vision.
  
  

Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, And/or Testing Required

• Teaching Credential for appropriate level of instruction and/or subjects, Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance, Valid Driver's License and evidence of insurability.
