Job Title: Ranch Livestock Worker (Cattle) SOC Code: 45-2093 – Farmworkers, Farm, Ranch, and Aquacultural Animals Reports To: Ranch Manager Employment Terms: Full-time, temporary agricultural position involving the care and production of cattle in a ranch livestock operation. The worker will perform duties related to the care, handling, and production of cattle in a commercial ranching operation. Work will involve livestock husbandry, animal health monitoring, facility maintenance directly related to livestock production, and general ranch support activities associated with cattle operations. The position does not involve range livestock procedures under 20 CFR §655.200–655.235 and does not require 24-hour on-call attendance. Primary Duties The worker will: • Feed and water cattle. • Monitor livestock for signs of illness, injury, or distress and report concerns to management. • Assist with calving operations and breeding activities. • Administer vaccinations and basic treatments under supervision. • Move, sort, and load cattle using low-stress livestock handling techniques. • Operate livestock handling facilities, including chutes and corrals. • Maintain fencing, gates, corrals, and livestock water systems. • Clean and maintain livestock pens and facilities. • Assist with recordkeeping related to herd health and production. • Gather and move cattle between pastures as directed. • Perform other duties directly related to livestock production as assigned by the Ranch Manager. All duties are directly related to the production and care of livestock. Work Location & Conditions • Work will be performed on ranch property, including fenced pastures, livestock facilities, and cattle handling areas. • Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions. • Duties may involve horseback riding, ATV use, or pickup truck operation for livestock management purposes. • Worker is not required to reside on the range for continuous livestock attendance. Work Schedule The employer anticipates offering work six (6) days per week, for a total of approximately 60 to 63 hours per week. The normal work schedule is expected to be 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with meal periods provided in accordance with applicable federal law. Workdays and hours may vary depending on weather, livestock conditions, seasonal demands, and other agricultural operational needs. Agricultural employment in Wyoming is generally exempt from overtime requirements under federal and state law unless otherwise required. Season of Employment Approximately 9–10 months, aligned with livestock production cycles and seasonal ranch operations. Tools & Equipment • Livestock handling equipment • Fencing tools • Basic veterinary supplies • ATVs or pickup trucks • Tractors or ranch equipment used for livestock-related tasks Physical Requirements • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. • Ability to lift and carry supplies related to livestock care. • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physically demanding agricultural labor. • Ability to ride horseback or operate ranch vehicles as needed. Minimum Requirements • No minimum education requirement. • Previous livestock or ranch experience preferred. • Must be able to perform duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
