Duties
- Diagnose and troubleshoot refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems using schematics, electrical diagnostics tools (such as ohmmeters), and mechanical knowledge.
- Perform installation, maintenance, repair, and upgrade of commercial refrigeration units, HVAC systems, boilers, air conditioning units, building automation systems, and related mechanical equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues early and execute preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Utilize hand tools and specialized equipment to repair or replace faulty components efficiently.
- Interpret technical schematics and system diagrams to accurately diagnose system faults and implement effective solutions.
- Maintain detailed service records, logs, and reports for all repairs, inspections, and system upgrades.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating clearly with clients about system status, repair timelines, and recommended improvements.
- Certificates and Licenses
- EPA Certification: Universal Type Section 608 required.
Education and Experience
- Education: High school diploma, GED, or graduate of an accredited refrigeration technical program.
- Field Experience: Minimum of 2–3 years of hands-on field experience with commercial refrigeration, kitchen equipment service and new installation.
- Administrative Tracking: Demonstrated ability to independently handle parts logs, tool tracking, and basic inventory paperwork.
Physical Demands
- Heavy Lifting: Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver heavy equipment and installation materials weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Mobility Requirements: Ability to climb ladders, work on roofs, bend, kneel, and work inside active construction zones, shops, warehouses, or walk-in freezers for extended periods.
Skills & Proficiencies
- Technical Knowledge: Deep knowledge of refrigeration cycles, low/medium temperature systems, and commercial piping layout/brazing techniques.
- Blueprint Literacy: Ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, architectural drawings, and wiring diagrams.
- Software Competency: Ability to use mobile dispatch, inventory management, and project management software.
- Driver's License: Valid license with a clean driving record acceptable to company insurance standards.
