We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead complex heavy civil projects throughout the Southeast, with a primary focus on Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana. This individual will be responsible for delivering projects safely, efficiently, and with the level of integrity and excellence our clients and employees expect.

What You’ll Do

As a Project Manager, you will oversee heavy civil projects from preconstruction through closeout while ensuring they are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to Gregory Construction’s standards.

You will work closely with field leadership and project teams to manage the day-to-day execution of self-performed civil scopes while maintaining strong communication with clients, engineers, vendors, and internal leadership.

Responsibilities

• Manage heavy civil construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout
• Oversee self-performed construction scopes, including underground utilities, earthwork, concrete, grading, and site development
• Manage underground utility installation, including water, sewer, storm drainage, duct banks, and related infrastructure
• Partner closely with Superintendents and field leadership to manage manpower, equipment, production, sequencing, and project execution
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, cost projections, and risk management plans
• Monitor project productivity and production against established budgets and schedules
• Coordinate with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, owners, and clients
• Manage contracts, change orders, billing, cost reporting, procurement, and project documentation
• Identify potential project risks, delays, and cost impacts and proactively develop solutions
• Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to internal leadership and clients
• Promote a safety-first culture while maintaining OSHA compliance and quality standards
• Build trusted client relationships through proactive and professional communication
• Mentor Project Engineers and support the development of project teams
• Travel throughout the Southeast as required to support active projects

What We’re Looking For

Required Qualifications

• 5–10 years of Project Management experience within heavy civil construction
• Strong experience managing self-performed construction operations preferred
• Demonstrated experience managing field crews, equipment, production, schedules, and project costs
• Strong background in one or more of the following:
  • Underground utilities
  • Wet utilities, including water, sewer, and storm drainage
  • Earthwork and mass excavation
  • Grading and site development
  • Concrete construction
  • Duct banks and underground infrastructure
• Experience managing projects ranging from approximately $500K to $30M
• Strong understanding of project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and contract administration
• Experience with project management software such as Procore, MS Project, Primavera, or similar platforms
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Ability and willingness to travel throughout Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and other Southeast project locations as business needs require
• A leadership style grounded in accountability, teamwork, and respect

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent field experience
• Experience working for a self-performing heavy civil contractor
• Experience managing underground utility and site development scopes
• Experience supporting mission-critical, data center, industrial, or other large-scale infrastructure projects
• Experience managing multiple crews and significant equipment resources in active field environments
