Gregory Construction is seeking a Project Engineer to support large-scale data center and heavy civil site development projects. This is a field-driven role requiring significant travel to active job sites across the Southeast, Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, and other regions as project needs dictate.
This is not a stationary position. Project Engineers are assigned based on project demand and should expect to spend the majority of their time working on-site, often in different locations throughout the year. Candidates must be flexible and willing to travel for extended durations.
As a Project Engineer, you'll partner with experienced Project Managers and Superintendents while gaining hands-on experience in earthwork, underground utilities, grading, and site infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone early in their construction career who wants to develop into a future leader within heavy civil construction.

Key Responsibilities
- Support daily field operations alongside Project Managers and Superintendents
- Review construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals to ensure accurate project execution
- Assist with quantity tracking, material procurement, and delivery coordination
- Maintain project documentation, including daily reports, logs, and project records
- Support schedule updates, production tracking, cost reporting, and project forecasting
- Participate in project meetings and coordination with field and office teams
- Help enforce safety, quality, and compliance standards on active job sites
- Assist with change management, as-built documentation, and project closeout activities
- Build strong working relationships with project teams while demonstrating Gregory Construction's Core Values each day
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- Entry-level to early-career candidates are encouraged to apply
- Basic understanding of heavy civil construction methods and materials
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, field-oriented environment
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively and work at project sites for extended periods
Preferred
- Internship, co-op, or prior field experience in construction
- Experience with heavy civil, utilities, site development, or infrastructure projects
