The Billing Specialist is responsible for managing and processing insurance premium billing operations, ensuring accurate and timely billing procedures, and maintaining positive relationships with clients and insurance carriers. This position reports to the Accounting Department Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and manage premium billing for various insurance policies including commercial, personal, and specialty lines
- Coordinate with Accounts Payable Specialist regularly to reconcile premium payments and carrier statements, identifying and resolving discrepancies promptly
- Handle client billing inquiries and concerns professionally, providing detailed explanations of charges and payment options
- Coordinate with insurance carriers regarding billing issues.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and initiate appropriate collection activities when necessary
- Generate and distribute monthly billing statements and reports for internal stakeholders
- Maintain accurate billing records in the agency management system
- Assist in month-end closing procedures and financial reporting
- Document all billing-related activities and maintain organized electronic and paper files
- Other duties as assigned, to include, but not limited to, payroll processing and reporting
Required Experience:
Years Of Experience
- 1-3
- High School/G.E.D.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude, express enthusiasm, and be flexible desired
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team recommended
- A full understanding of general accounting practices and principles is required.
- 1-3 years in accounting work experience is recommended.
- Good organizational, verbal, and written communication skills necessary.
- Ability to utilize computer programs and understand functionality required.
