Responsibilities
- Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on marine propulsion systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components using schematics and technical drawings.
- Conduct maintenance on marine engines, including diesel mechanics work, water transportation equipment upkeep, and vessel electrical systems troubleshooting.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments such as calipers and ohmmeters, and welding equipment to complete repairs accurately.
- Interpret technical manuals and schematics to troubleshoot electrical diagnostics and mechanical system failures effectively.
- Execute rigging tasks and assembly to repair or modify marine components as needed.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards by properly using personal protective equipment (PPE) during all maintenance activities.
- Support customer service efforts by communicating technical information clearly and providing solutions that meet client needs.
Experience
- Proven service technician experience with a strong background in marine mechanics or related fields such as diesel mechanics or heavy vehicle maintenance.
- Hands-on experience with ship electrical systems maintenance, marine electrical troubleshooting, and marine propulsion systems maintenance.
- Familiarity with interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting procedures.
- Knowledge of water transportation equipment maintenance including mechanical systems repair and fabrication techniques.
- Experience working with maintenance, repair and operations (MRO), assembly processes, and the use of hand tools and power tools in a fast-paced environment.
- Military experience involving technical or mechanical roles is highly valued for its discipline and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to safety protocols; experience with personal protective equipment (PPE) use is essential.
