Staff Accountant
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Staff Accountant to join our accounting team at Greg Orick II Marine Construction Inc., a leading marine construction company. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and supporting financial reporting processes. This role requires a thorough understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Record Management:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.
- Financial Reporting:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses.
- Project Accounting:
- Track and manage project-related expenses, ensuring accurate job costing.
- Assist in the preparation of project billing and revenue recognition.
- Compliance and Audits:
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
- Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and information.
- Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in the accounting function.
- Assist in the implementation of new accounting systems or software.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with project managers, procurement, and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Communicate effectively with vendors, clients, and team members regarding financial matters.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AIA and WIP experience.
- Experience with project accounting and job costing.
- Familiarity with construction industry-specific software.
