SEASONAL PART-TIME
POSITION SUMMARY:
Seasonal positions of the camp lifeguard is responsible for supervision, control, and safety in and around the swimming pool and lake during all programs at the Camp Seton outdoor site location as well as waterfront field trips. In addition, a lifeguard should possess a high degree of safety consciousness accompanied by a mature understanding that their primary objective should be the prevention of accidents.

PAY RANGE:
$18/hour - $20/hour
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Report for duty 10 minutes before scheduled activity and in proper uniform.
- Wear full uniform - shirt, suit, whistle, fanny pack, flip flops, shorts.
- Follow Rotation as scheduled.
- Follow the appropriate sitting schedule according to the number of lifeguards required by protocol in each aquatic location.
- Enforce all aquatic policies, rules and regulations regarding supervision, safety and sanitation.
- Inspect the facility on a daily schedule and report any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor.
- Provide direct supervision and maintain a high safety standard during all guarding assignments, recreational or instructional.
- Maintain constant vigilance while on duty, never leave the pool while it is in use. Guard must be at the pool/lake/beach or walking around that location at all times.
- As a first responder, using the Y appropriate incident report form, able to write a full report of any accident, rescue, potential danger, incident, etc. and distribute it to the Aquatics/Camp Directors and Director of Human Resources.
- Keep abreast of current information relating to lifeguarding and aquatic safety.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean pool deck free of equipment. Safeguard and turn in lost and found.
- Responsible for inspecting the pool bottom and checking all entrances to see that they are locked, before leaving the pool.
- Conduct swim tests as required.
- Participate in regular in-service training sessions.
- Maintain fitness level, keep in shape (swimming skills, strength and endurance).
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as designated by the Aquatics/Camp Directors.
- Reliably work assigned shifts.
- Complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Excellent customer service is expected at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Minimum one (1) year experience as a certified lifeguard.
- Must hold a current American Red Cross Waterfront Lifeguard certification prior to camp start.
- Must hold a current American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification.
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
