What are the responsibilities and job description for the Managing Director, Investment Banking position at Greenwich Capital Group LLC?
Managing Director, Investment Banking
About Greenwich Capital Group
Greenwich Capital Group (GCG) is a leading middle market investment bank headquartered in Birmingham, Michigan, with offices in Cleveland, Nashville, and New York. We advise closely held and family-owned businesses, private equity firms, and public companies on sell-side M&A, buy-side mandates, and capital raises, typically on transactions between $25 million and $500 million in enterprise value. Our senior bankers have advised on hundreds of transactions and most come from large U.S. and global firms. Coverage spans aerospace and defense, automotive, business services, consumer and retail, food and beverage, healthcare, industrials, building products, and technology.
The Role
We are hiring a Managing Director in Detroit who can originate and close M&A engagements. This is a revenue-generating role for a banker with an established book of business and a deep network, who wants a platform where relationships and production are rewarded directly.
We are open on sector for the right producer. Healthcare and business services would be a plus given our growth plans, but a strong originator in any middle market sector is the priority. Given existing coverage, we are not adding automotive, industrials, or technology bankers at this time.
Why GCG
- Production economics above what bulge bracket and regional platforms pay for originated and executed deals
- A full deal team (VPs, associates, analysts) and in-house marketing so you spend your time with clients and buyers, not building decks
- Established national referral channels and a senior advisor program that feeds originators
- Cross-sector leverage: you plug into relationships across the firm’s coverage from day one
What You’ll Do
- Originate sell-side and buy-side mandates through your own network of business owners, private equity firms, and referral sources
- Lead engagements from pitch through close, including positioning, buyer outreach, negotiation, and execution
- Serve as the senior relationship lead for clients throughout the process
- Work with GCG’s leadership and deal team to build a sector pipeline
What We’re Looking For
- 10 years of investment banking or M&A advisory experience at the Managing Director or senior Director level
- Closed transactions in the middle market where you were the lead banker
- An established, portable network of owners, sponsors, attorneys, accountants, and other referral sources
- Experience advising privately held and sponsor-backed companies
- Healthcare or business services experience strongly preferred
- A collaborative style and a preference for working in-office with a close-knit team
Compensation
Competitive base salary plus production-based incentive compensation.
