The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization’s financial reporting, general ledger, month-end and year-end close processes, account reconciliations, and internal controls. This position ensures financial information is accurate, timely, and prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and company policies.
The Senior Accountant works independently on complex accounting activities, assists with audits and financial analysis, and serves as a resource to other members of the accounting team.
Key Responsibilities
· Perform and coordinate month-end and year-end closing activities, including preparation and review of journal entries.
· Analyze financial results and investigate significant variances, unusual transactions, and account discrepancies.
· Maintain fixed asset records and calculate depreciation.
· Prepare accruals, allocations, and other recurring and non-recurring journal entries.
· Assist with cash management and bank reconciliations.
· Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and other accounting functions as needed.
· Ensure transactions are properly recorded and supported by appropriate documentation.
· Maintain and improve accounting procedures, internal controls, and financial reporting processes.
· Assist with annual financial statement audits and provide schedules and documentation requested by external auditors.
· Research and resolve accounting issues and recommend appropriate accounting treatment.
· Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and automation within accounting processes.
· Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff as needed.
· Assist the Controller with special projects, financial analysis, and other accounting responsibilities.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
· Approximately 4–7 years of progressive accounting experience preferred.
· Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles.
· Demonstrated experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
· Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including experience working with large data sets, formulas, lookups, and pivot tables.
· Experience with accounting or ERP systems required.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
· Ability to organize priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with other departments.
Preferred Experience
· Experience preparing or assisting with monthly financial statements.
· Experience supporting external audits.
· Experience with budgeting and financial analysis.
· Experience improving accounting processes and internal controls.
· Experience in a multi-entity or growing organization is a plus.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
