Job purpose
The Technical Liaison / Facilities Manager, reporting to the Producing Director, is a hands-on position that will perform carpentry, maintenance, maintain building including minor repairs and technical work in addition to oversee crews for the Greenway Court Theatre. GCT is a program of Greenway Arts Alliance, a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to unite communities through art, education and social enterprise. Position will also maintain facilities for the Melrose Trading Post and other shared spaces of the organization.
Duties and responsibilities
· Work with the Producing Director to make all decisions regarding the technical aspects of the Greenway Court Theatre and all events and productions scheduled in the theatre.
· Communicate with designers and review all designs and make recommendations to the Producing Director about safety, feasibility and budget needs.
· Schedule GCT tech staff, and supervise all builds, hangs, load-ins, and strikes.
· Technical Liaison will act as Master Carpenter for all Greenway Court Theatre productions.
· Budget, oversee all other technical elements and instruments related to productions, residencies, and usages (electrics, lighting, sound, video, etc), including hangs, focuses, and strikes.
· Oversee and maintain the integrity of current production designs, including trouble-shooting when necessary.
· Coordinate and maintain inventory and storage of all tools, equipment, and materials related to the technical aspects of the theatre and the other programs of Greenway Arts Alliance, including the maintenance, trouble-shooting and training of GIA staff on the audio and visual equipment used in their programming.
· Repair and maintain Melrose Trading Post equipment on request.
· Help create a GCT project list and occasionally oversee Special Ops crew from the Melrose Trading Post on Sundays.
· Oversee the Greenway Arts facility, repair and or coordinate building and shared space repairs and improvements by inspecting the facility each shift.
· Oversee and schedule the shop for builds.
· Schedule, hire, and supervise technical overhire and contractors with the Producing Director as needed.
· Implement and enforce safety regulations & practices, nurturing a safe work environment.
· Cultivate and maintain relationships with Fairfax High School plant manager and communicate Greenway needs to them.
· Attend bi-monthly staff meetings. Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
· Bachelor Degree in Theatre Technology preferred.
· At least five years experience coordinating technical aspects for theatres of similar or larger size preferred.
· Advanced construction skills, including carpentry, welding, rigging, required.
· Advanced proficiency in electrics, lighting, sound, and video preferred.
· Experience in facility management and maintenance.
· Experience as a teaching artist, teacher and/or working with high school aged students is a bonus.
· Must be highly organized, flexible and able to balance multiple competing demands.
· Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work.
· Ability to work a flexible, non-typical work schedule that may include evenings and weekends. Attendance is required at all technical rehearsals, load-ins, and strikes.
