We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced Heavy Construction Equipment Technician to join our team.Position SummaryThis role is responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of a wide range of heavy-duty construction equipment including loaders, bulldozers, excavators, graders, backhoes, and other diesel- and hydraulic-powered machinery. This role ensures all equipment is safe, reliable, and operating at peak performance to support efficient and continuous operations. Some local travel will be required.Key ResponsibilitiesExperienced and proficient with utilizing OEM diagnostics equipment and programs to troubleshoot and identify root cause of failure(s) with diverse blend of OEM brands of Heavy Construction Equipment (Caterpillar, John Dere & Volvo)Independently perform all aspects of preventive maintenance and heavy repairs of all OEM heavy construction equipment, recondition, repair, and assembly of equipment assigned by Maintenance Manager. Provide mobile cross-functional support to other GW locations Must be able to independently analyze parts reusability, order parts, keep track of asset compliance percentages, and complete repairs in a timely manner. Adhere to OSHA standards and GreenWaste safety policies, being an advocate for compliance and setting the standard amongst peers.Maintain assigned service truck, accountability of tools and diagnostics equipment. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems, diesel engines, transmissions, and electrical systemsAbility to read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software.Welding and fabrication skills preferred.Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Effective communication skills with operators and supervisors.Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent required.Completion of a trade school or technical program in heavy equipment/diesel mechanics preferred.Minimum 3–5 years of experience in heavy construction equipment maintenance.Valid driver’s license required, CDL a plusASE or equivalent diesel/mechanic certification desirableLanguage Skill: Proficiency in English and Spanish preferred.Physical Demands:Ability to physically push, pull and lift objects up to 75 lbs.Must be able to walk on uneven ground when repairing trucks on route road callsExposure to loud noise from trucks and equipment Exposure to high and low temperatures when working inside or outside on vehicles Possible exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals and strong odorsMust be able to work at heights when working on top of trucks or other equipmentCompensation and BenefitsFinancial compensation will be commensurate with applicable experience.
