We are seeking an experienced, successful, and engaged Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position is expected to work out of our office at 675 Los Esteros Rd. in San Jose and limited job-related travel may be required.Position Summary:GreenWaste is seeking to fill the position of Equipment Maintenance Technician to provide support to one or more facilities. This role’s main function is to maintain processing equipment to ensure it is running optimally with minimal down time.Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Ability to remove equipment guards safely and clean inside themAbility to clean all idlersMaintain all chutes clean of debrisAbility to use compressed air to keep all equipment clean from dust and debris Ensure to maintain all MRF floors cleanProperly follow company and OSHA safety procedures to ensure safetyAbility to work in close quarter areas around pedestrians and other heavy equipment Ability to follow directions, daily procedures, and protocolsAbility to adapt to constantly changing conditions, effectively stay on taskInsure the proper maintenance of equipment and tools and the overall cleanliness and proper functioning of the area, tools, and the machinery after usePerform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of timeThe ability to work as a team and work well with othersAbility to understand and carry out written and oral instructionsThe work habits to have are reliable transportation, being punctual, and reliable I order to minimize disruptions to the day-to-day operations Qualifications:2 years of mechanical experienceHigh school diploma or GEDValid Driver license Language Skill: Proficiency in English and/or Spanish Physical Demands:Requires the ability to handle material weighing 60 lbs.Requires constant pulling, pushing, reaching, bending and graspingRequires going up and down stairs to reach certain equipment locations The employee is occasionally required to walk, sit, stand, climb, balance, reach, stoop, or kneelWork Environment: Requires working in a fast-paced work environment where there is exposure to loud noises, heat, cold, sharp objects, odors and around gases from welding equipment (OSHA approved respirator protections provided). Requires the use of a hard hat, safety glasses, work boots, safety vest, dust mask, respirator, hearing protection, harness, and gloves at all timeWork shifts vary, regular workdays may be anywhere from 4-12 hours depending on daily tonnageWorking overtime is required. Working overtime on the weekends and on certain holidays is requiredAbility to work flexible hoursThe employee regularly works in outside weather conditions The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and sometimes exposed to wet and or humid conditions and the noise level in the work environment is usually loudReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.The typical work week is Monday through Friday. Will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Ability to work in setting with frequent changes in equipment, start/end time, service city/town and routes based on the operational needs for the day and or week.Compensation and Benefits Financial compensation will be commensurate with applicable experience.
