Custodial Supervisor - Full Time

Description

Greenville University is seeking a Custodial Supervisor that oversees custodial staff and ensures that campus facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly condition. This position coordinates daily cleaning operations, assigns work tasks, monitors performance, and ensures that all areas are cleaned to established standards. The Custodial Supervisor also assists with training staff, managing supplies, and responding to urgent cleaning or facility needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct custodial staff in assigned buildings and areas.
• Assign daily work tasks and ensure completion of cleaning schedules.
• Inspect buildings regularly to ensure cleanliness and quality standards are met.
• Train new and existing employees on cleaning procedures, safety practices, and equipment use.
• Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and request replacements as needed. 
• Respond to urgent cleaning needs, spills, or facility issues.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and proper use of chemicals and equipment.
• Assist with planning and coordinating special event setups and cleanups.
• Maintain records of work completed, inspections, and staff performance.
• Communicate effectively with facilities management and other departments.

Requirements

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education preferred.
• Previous custodial experience required; supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and staff assignments.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and safety procedures.
• Ability to work independently and make decisions in the field.
• Must be able to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and carrying up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment

• Work performed throughout campus buildings and occasional outdoor areas.
• May require early morning, evening, or weekend hours depending on operational needs.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying environmental conditions.

Physical Requirements

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
• Ability to inspect work areas and perform hands-on custodial duties as needed.
