Job Title: Pathfinder
Job Summary: While having the opportunity to explore the machine tool industry and the skilled trades it has to offer through job shadowing and hands on experience, a Pathfinder student will perform varied tasks under the supervision of the Pathfinder Coordinator or another qualified adult over 18 years of age.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tasks will consist predominantly of custodial duties including but not limited to:
- sweeping
- cleaning machines
- cleaning restrooms
- washing windows
- dusting
- mopping
- sorting
- stacking
- moving material
- mowing and raking lawns
- painting
- other general facility cleaning
- Students developing proficiency in these duties will be afforded more “hands on” tooling experiences such as
- stoning
- polishing
- milling
- drilling
- cutter grinding
- drill sharpening
- general maintenance and troubleshooting
- Some students may also receive exposure to our Engineering and CAD design area.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Have reliable transportation
- Be willing to work 15-24 hours per week during the school year and possibly 40 hours per week during the summer.
- Be able to perform the physical requirements and tasks accordingly
- Related skills and educational training are preferred such as Machine Tooling, Woodworking, Welding, Engineering, CAD etc.
Work environment:
- Manufacturing environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Students working at GTD under other qualifying coursework, STW, CAS, Work Release, Work Permits, etc. may not qualify to perform all of the duties above. Their activities will conform to the appropriate Federal and State Youth Employment Laws where applicable.
For employment at Greenville Tool and Die, you must pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
