Summary
We are seeking a loving and dedicated Lead Teacher to join our Christian-based preschool family! The ideal candidate will create a nurturing, faith-filled environment where young children can grow spiritually, socially, emotionally, and academically. As the Lead Teacher, you will plan engaging, age-appropriate activities that encourage curiosity and creativity while modeling Christian values such as kindness, respect, and compassion. You’ll work closely with families and team members to support each child’s development and help lay the foundation for a lifelong love of learning and faith.
Duties
Plan and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
Create a warm, nurturing, and safe classroom environment where toddlers feel secure and valued.
Establish and maintain daily routines that support consistency and structure for children.
Observe, assess, and document each child’s development and progress.
Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child’s daily experiences, milestones, and developmental growth.
Model and encourage positive behavior, cooperation, and problem-solving skills.
Supervise and guide assistant teachers or classroom aides to ensure a cohesive and supportive teaching environment.
Maintain classroom cleanliness, organization, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
Ensure all licensing, health, and center policies and procedures are consistently followed.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with toddlers in a licensed childcare or preschool setting.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and age-appropriate practices.
- Ability to plan and implement engaging and developmentally appropriate activities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, families, and coworkers.
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to guide assistant teachers or aides.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and actively participate in classroom and outdoor activities.
- Must pass all required background checks and meet state licensing requirements.
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
- Experience implementing The Creative Curriculum or other play-based learning programs.
- Familiarity with Christian-based values and the ability to incorporate them into daily routines and lessons.
- Knowledge of sign language or basic Spanish for early learners.
- Experience conducting developmental assessments and creating individualized learning plans.
- Strong organizational skills and creativity in setting up engaging classroom environments.
- Positive, team-oriented attitude and a passion for nurturing young children’s growth.
- Participation in continuing education or professional development related to early childhood education.
