Position Description
The Grants Director leads the strategic development, direction, and implementation of an ambitious grants and sponsorships program, increasing Greentrike’s income annually, and expanding its funding pool to include more regional and national funders. They are adept at strategic thinking and project management, with exceptional writing, communication, and relationship-building skills. The Director oversees two direct reports, the Grants Manager and the Development Coordinator, in securing and stewarding grant and sponsorship awards. The scope of work includes:
Strategy & Planning
- Develop and execute a comprehensive institutional giving strategy that increases annual grant revenue and expands Greentrike’s funding portfolio, especially via regional/national funding opportunities.
- Lead the research, writing, and submission of compelling grant proposals, sponsorship requests, and reports, ensuring alignment with funder priorities.
- Oversee the tracking, evaluation, and reporting of institutional funding efforts to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with Greentrike’s goals.
- Direct prospect research strategy and processes to support income growth.
- Develop annual grants and sponsorship income budgets aligned with organizational needs, monitor income against goals, and support the development of project budgets for proposals.
Project & Team Management
- Supervise and mentor the Grants Manager and the Development Coordinator, fostering professional growth.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to identify needs and opportunities, prioritize requests, and ensure successful grant applications, reports, and project implementation.
- Maintain a robust grants calendar to effectively manage deadlines, submissions, and reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with funding guidelines, deliverables, and financial reporting in partnership with finance and program teams.
- Partner with evaluation and program teams to measure and report the impact of grant-funded efforts, meeting performance and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with the finance and program teams to ensure funds are properly invoiced, allocated, spent, and tracked per grant agreements.
Funder Stewardship
- In coordination with the CEO and CPO, cultivate and maintain professional relationships with current funders and regional/national grantmakers, employing stewardship strategies to enhance funder retention and deepen partnerships.
- Develop compelling stewardship materials, such as case statements, impact stories, and other funder touchpoints.
- Professionally represent Greentrike at funder meetings, conferences, and networking events to raise visibility and cultivate new funding opportunities.
- Actively participate in Development Team meetings, fundraising events, and other cultivation efforts.
General Administrative Duties: Administrative and Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated experience cultivating and soliciting new corporate and foundation relationships
- Advanced, superior writing, editing, analytic, research, and relational skills
- Collaborative working style: ability to forge and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of representatives of public and private organizations, including Board members, volunteers, vendors, internal staff, and the general public
- Strong working knowledge of local and national foundation donors, government systems, and funding trends
- Experience with budget preparation – the ability to create and review budgets and ensure alignment with funder interests and proposal narrative
- Highly organized with great attention to detail, planning, and efficiency
- Ability to work independently and under stress, manage a number of demanding and conflicting priorities in order to meet deadlines with well-crafted proposals and reports
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills to advance Greentrike’s mission
- Understanding of/experience with child development, early childhood education, and family learning
- Experience with customer relationship management software, expertise with Salesforce a plus
- Excellent use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in related field or fundraising management certificate
- Five or more years experience in a grant manager/director position, non-profit experience preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $82,500.00 - $95,000.00 per year
