This position plays a key role in leading and directing the routine functions of the Human Resources department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.


Essential Functions:

  • Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.

  • Provides support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.

  • Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.

  • Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent. Oversee employee benefit programs. Ensures enrollments or waiver of coverage and 401K enrollments.

  • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.

  • Enforces company guidelines by developing and updating company policies and procedures. Ensuring management is trained on each policy.

  • Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations and creates corrective action forms for confirmation of incidents and violations.

  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.

  • Manages and maintains compliance with labor laws and regulations enforced by the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR), including wage and hour, workers’ compensation, and workplace safety requirements. Prevailing wage compliance.

  • Has experience supporting labor relations matters, including working with unions, collective bargaining representatives, and regulatory agencies.


Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to management when required.

  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skills.

  • Provide excellent customer service to clients, vendors and suppliers.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Responsibility

  • Supervises HR Assistant


Travel

  • Minimal travel (up to 10%) for off-site training

Mental and Physical Demands

  • Light physical activity performing non-strenuous daily activities of a clerical nature


Work Environment

  • Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor office/production setting with adequate ventilations.

  • Moderate noise, business office with computers and printers


Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in Human Resources with progressive management responsibility


Required

  • Associate degree in business administration, human resources, or relevant field or three (3) to five (5) years of experience in Human Resources with progressive responsibilities

  • Familiarity with HR principles

  • Knowledge of HR systems and databases

  • Experience working with the Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) and familiarity with applicable labor compliance requirements.

  • Knowledge of union environments, collective bargaining agreements, and labor relations best practices.

  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.

Salary : $80,000 - $105,000
