Overview
We are seeking a dependable and hardworking Sod Farm Hand to join our team at our farm in Waimānalo. This is a physically active, outdoor position involving the cultivation, harvesting, handling, and preparation of sod for landscaping projects and customer orders.
Work Location: In person — Waimānalo, Hawai‘i
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with planting, growing, maintaining, and harvesting sod
- Cut, roll, stack, load, and unload sod
- Prepare sod for deliveries and landscape installation projects
- Assist with irrigation, watering, fertilizing, and general crop care
- Operate basic farm, landscaping, and sod-handling equipment
- Perform weed control and general grounds maintenance
- Load and organize materials, tools, and equipment
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Inspect sod for quality and report any concerns to the supervisor
- Follow all company safety procedures and supervisor instructions
- Assist with other farm and landscaping duties as needed
Qualifications
- Previous farm, landscaping, nursery, groundskeeping, or general labor experience is preferred
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday
- Comfortable working outdoors in heat, sun, rain, mud, dust, and other changing weather conditions
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and lift for extended periods
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a team
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain strong attention to safety
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must maintain a safe, professional, and drug-free work approach
- Reliable transportation to the farm in Waimānalo is required
Schedule and Benefits
- Monday–Friday
- 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
- Approximately 40 hours per week
- Paid bi-weekly
