Essential duties and responsibilities:
The Spray Technician is responsible for acquiring and maintaining the Pesticide Apprentice License (APL) from ODA. The test must be passed within 30 days of employment. The Commercial Pesticide Applicator (CPA) license must be obtained within 90 days of employment. The listed pay scale is for those who have obtained these licenses. All continued education hours and license maintenance are the responsibility of the employee, but are fully paid for by the employer.
Pesticide Apprentice License (APL): For individuals gaining experience under the supervision of a certified applicator. Requires passing the Laws and Safety exam.
Commercial Pesticide Applicator (CPA): Required for individuals who apply pesticides (including restricted-use pesticides) to the property of another for compensation. Requires passing the Laws and Safety exam and the category of Turf and Ornamental Herbicide.
Spraying herbicides and applying granular products is the primary scope of work for this position. Due to the restrictions caused by inclement weather and the nature of the landscape industry, a secondary scope of work is necessary to maintain full hours. Therefore, this position will also be asked to perform any other services we offer as needed.
Spray Technician will primarily be working alone after training.
All testing and classes are paid for by the company.
The Spray Technician will use company software for accurate record-keeping, promote job worksite safety, provide excellent customer service, and exhibit pride and quality workmanship. Tasks include but not limited to:
- You will be responsible for preparing your truck with the necessary tools and materials for the day based on the information on your company-issued tablet
- Travel from job site to job site executing high-quality services in a company vehicle starting and ending each day at our shop in Astoria
- Perform all landscape work for commercial and residential clients
- Be able to lift 70 pounds and be very physical
Background checks and drug screenings may be required before job offer.
