JOB SUMMARY:
Greensboro College, an NCAA Division III institution located in Greensboro, North Carolina, is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the role of Head Coach of the Cheer program.
This position is responsible for recruiting and building a roster as we reinstate the Cheer program with the anticipation of game/competition cheer beginning in the fall of 2027.
The head coach's roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Recruit talented student-athletes and build a roster to compete beginning in the Fall of 2027. Consistently communicate recruiting strategies and numbers to the Director of Athletics
- Develop and implement training plans focused on skill development, safety, and performance. Lead practices, choreography sessions, and game-day performances
- Maintain a safe training environment and enforce risk-management protocols
- Mentor student-athletes in academic progress, personal conduct, and leadership
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented culture
- Maintain accurate recruitment records and communication logs
- Prepare cheer team for campus and community appearances
- Manage program budget, purchasing, and financial procedures in accordance with College policies to ensure stewardship of resources
- Coordinate travel arrangements, itineraries, and event logistics, transporting student-athletes as needed
- Supervise assistant coaches, volunteers, and student workers
- Ensure adherence to Greensboro College, conference, and national governing-body regulations
- Fully participate in department meetings, campus events, and community outreach
- Collaborate with athletics staff and campus partners to support program operations
- Submits requested departmental forms in a timely manner
- Develop fundraising strategies to enhance the overall student-athlete experience
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
- Bachelor's degree
- Prior coaching experience in cheer, dance, or a related discipline
- Knowledge of safety standards based upon NCAA guidelines
- CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain upon
Preferred
- Collegiate-level coaching experience
- Experience supervising staff or student workers
