What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping & Receiving - 3rd Shift position at Greenpoint Metals, Inc.?
Summary
The Shipping and Receiving duties that facilitate the loading of finished goods onto outbound LTL and dedicated delivery trucks using overhead cranes and forklifts.
Specific Duties
- Loads trailers or straight trucks by hand and with the assistance of manual or motorized material handling equipment (i.e. overhead cranes and forklifts).
- Reads orders to organize shipments.
- Scans orders for the purposes of generating packing slips to prepare orders for shipment.
- Prepares paperwork for shipment of order and files paperwork to allow for proper invoicing.
- When required, moves orders from manufacturing assembly areas to shipping warehouse.
- Understands and follows the daily shipping schedule
Qualifications/Training
- Education: Completion of High School Diploma or GED.
- 1-3 years of Shipping and Receiving experience.
- Prior forklift and crane operation experience.
- Communicates Effectively: Clear Interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
- Prefer 1-3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment preferably in steel/metal manufacturing.
Physical Requirements
- Requires pushing, pulling, reaching, standing, walking, gripping and bending
- High mental and visual effort required
- Work involves considerable bending and twisting
- Able and willing to work overtime when required
Safety / Hazards
- Steel toed shoes always required in production area due to physical hazards from moving equipment, machine parts and product
- ANSI Z87.1 standard safety glasses required in production area due to dust, oils and debris
- May be Exposed to flying objects such as scrap metal and sparks
- Exposed to moderate cuts and bruises
- Exposed to significant temperature changes in the facility – (heat in the summer / cold in the winter)
