Job Summary
We are looking to add an Experienced Veterinary assistant for our busy veterinary hospital. We are looking for someone who has at least 2- 4 years of veterinary experience to come help our team of amazing veterinary assistants and technicians. The best candidates are genuinely excited to help clients and their pets. They’re patient, empathetic, and passionately communicative. The target is to ensure excellent medical standards, respond efficiently to client inquiries and maintain high client satisfaction. While we are primarily looking for a full-time employee, we have some flexibility with our schedule and could potentially accommodate a part-time position if needed.
Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures.
- Perform diagnostic tests, including X-rays and laboratory work.
- Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
- Monitor and record animal vital signs and behavior.
- Provide care for animals in the kennel, ensuring their well-being and comfort.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and training techniques.
- Maintain cleanliness of the clinic, including surgical areas and examination rooms.
- Handle animals safely and effectively to minimize stress during procedures.
- Prioritizing all patient discharges
- Clear, courteous communication with all colleagues (DVM, CSR, techs)
- Venipuncture: jugular, cephalic, saphenous
- IV Catheter placement
Skills
- A minimum of 2 years of veterinary assistant experience is required
- Venipuncture
- Peripheral intravenous catheter placement
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- The ability to lift up to 40lbs unassisted
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Critical thinking
- Able to safely restrain patients for extended periods of time
- Proficient with technology including; medical record systems, automated lab analyzers, and digital radiology
