Green Mars Real Estate is seeking an Architectural Designer with 1–5 years of experience to join our team in Portland, Maine.
We are a real estate developer focused on practical, buildable housing projects that balance thoughtful design with real-world constraints, including site conditions, zoning, budgets, permitting, schedules, and construction. This role is a good fit for someone who is enthusiastic about housing, strong in Revit, and interested in helping projects move from concept to completion.
Responsibilities
- Create and manage drawings in Revit
- Develop plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules, and presentation materials
- Support feasibility studies, zoning reviews, massing studies, unit layouts, and site planning
- Assist with permit and construction document packages
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, and ownership
- Help evaluate design decisions for cost, constructability, schedule, and practicality
- Participate in project meetings and site visits as needed
Qualifications
- 1–5 years of architectural design experience
- Strong Revit expertise required
- Interest in housing, multifamily, mixed-use, infill, or residential development
- Ability to produce clean, accurate, organized drawing sets
- Strong understanding of plans, sections, elevations, details, and building systems
- Practical design mindset with an interest in how projects actually get built
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with, or interest in, AI to drive productivity
Bonus Points
- Structural engineering background, degree, or experience
- Experience with multifamily housing, affordable housing, adaptive reuse, modular construction, or mixed-use projects
- Experience working with developers, contractors, or design-build teams
- Familiarity with Maine or New England zoning, codes, permitting, or construction practices
- Strong detailing ability
