Lead Mechanic – Hoboken, NJ 07030
Monday – Friday | ⏰ 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
$33 – $41 per hour (based on experience)

Summary:
We’re seeking an experienced Lead Mechanic to oversee preventive and corrective maintenance for a municipal water/wastewater facility in Hoboken, NJ. This hands-on role involves leading maintenance staff, performing repairs, and ensuring continuous, efficient operation of all equipment and systems. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, leadership experience, and a commitment to safety and reliability.

Responsibilities:

·         Lead day-to-day maintenance activities and assign work to maintenance staff

·         Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, conveyors, valves, and process equipment

·         Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence

·         Install, align, and calibrate mechanical and electrical components

·         Conduct inspections, lubrication, and adjustments on machinery and equipment

·         Maintain accurate maintenance records in the CMMS system

·         Support facility improvement projects and machine upgrades

·         Ensure compliance with safety procedures and regulatory standards

Qualifications:

·         Minimum 5 years’ experience maintaining wastewater treatment or similar industrial equipment

·         At least 2 years’ experience leading maintenance teams

·         Strong knowledge of pumps, gearboxes, motors, controls, and plant equipment

·         Valid driver’s license with clean record

·         Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)

Preferred:

·         Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation systems

·         Understanding of wastewater treatment processes

·         CMRT or equivalent maintenance certification
