Responsibilities
What You’ll Be Doing
May include, but not limited to:
- Assist with Production, according to the established standards of the Pastry Chef of all Bakeshop products, included but not limited to; cakes, breakfast pastries, bread production, ice cream, confections and overall needs of all GHG hospitality group outlets.
- Aid in the preparation and execution of all the breakfast parties for the banquets department as required by the team's leadership.
- Prepare ingredients for service in accordance with all kitchen SOP’s, procedures and recipes
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines in accordance with kitchen standards and local food code
- Communicate effectively with chef and cook team
- Have basic Knowledge in Cakes, Custards, Pies and Cookies.
- Understand and follow all standardized recipes as given by Pastry Chef
- Executing demands efficiently in a high volume kitchen
- Maintain highest level of kitchen cleanliness and organization
- Maintain a favorable working relationship with fellow associates in the Banquet kitchen and other GHG outlets
- Participate in the breakdown and cleaning of bakeshop floors, walk-in coolers, surfaces and equipment at the end of each shift.
- Training new and current teammates
Qualifications
What You Need for this Position
- Available 30-40 hours per week flexibly - mornings, weekends, holidays.
- At least 1 year of experience as a pastry cook/baker or similar role (high volume production preferred)
- Bread/dough production a plus
- Advanced understanding of ingredients, kitchen equipment, procedures and various cooking methods
- Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure
- Ability to take constructive criticism
- Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
- Basic culinary math knowledge
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Advanced knife skills
- Able to stand for long periods of time, up to 8 hours or more
- Able to stoop and bend
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Able to safely work with potentially dangerous chemicals and equipment
- Able to handle responsibilities that require repetitive motion tasks
