Role Description The Manufacturing Maintenance Mechanic (2nd & 3rd Shift) is a full-time, on-site role based in Cambridge, MA. This position is responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing production and facility equipment to minimize downtime and support consistent manufacturing output. Day-to-day tasks include performing scheduled preventive maintenance, responding to equipment breakdowns, completing corrective repairs, and documenting work performed in maintenance systems. The mechanic will collaborate with production teams to identify equipment issues, recommend improvements, and assist with equipment setups or changeovers as needed. The role also involves following all safety and compliance procedures, maintaining a clean and organized work area, and participating in shift handoffs to ensure clear communication between maintenance teams.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Equipment Maintenance, including troubleshooting, repair, and performance optimization of manufacturing machinery.
- Experience with Preventive Maintenance and Industrial Maintenance practices to reduce equipment failures and extend asset life.
- Proficiency in Maintenance & Repair and Corrective Maintenance to address unplanned issues and restore equipment to safe, reliable operation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics; experience with basic mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
- Familiarity with maintenance management systems (CMMS) and accurate recordkeeping of work orders and inventory.
- Commitment to workplace safety, including lockout/tagout procedures and compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with production, engineering, and other maintenance team members across shifts.
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment; vocational training or technical certification in maintenance or a related field is preferred.
