SUMMARY OF POSITION

  • This position is responsible for the implementation, documentation, control and maintenance of the Greengate Fresh Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs including, but not limited to: Environmental Monitoring, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) programs, in-house and third party audits, quality evaluations, and GMPs. This position reports to the FSQA Director. Seasonal travel between Yuma, AZ (Winter) & Salinas, CA (Summer)

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute the EMP (Environmental Monitoring Program) for GGF Salinas and Yuma facilities.
  • Perform trend analysis of results received for environmental and product testing, provide summary and educate management team on deficiencies found and/or improvements needed.
  • Provides support in training and development of team members on both departmental and GreenGate Fresh policies and procedures. Cross train FSQA supervisors on EMP. Cross train with FSQA supervisor on other quality and food safety programs.
  • Support and monitors all quality control programs, raw in process, and finished goods.
  • Supervise food sampling procedures to ensure compliance with company and government regulations and standards.
  • Manage internal control samples, testing, and record keeping ensuring completeness; review records for accuracy and validity of results; provide management with copies of test records and reports.
  • Identify areas for improvement in the food safety testing and sample processing.
  • Evaluate food processing and storage operations and assist in the development of food safety programs; recommend and help implement corrective action initiatives ensuring food safety issues and concerns are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates pre-operation inspection and verifies effective execution of sanitation activities.
  • Cooperate with supervisors and managers and ensure compliance with all company policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP), Hazard Communication (HAZCOM), and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21 - Section 117.
  • Administer and support safety and health programs to ensure a safe work place and to be in compliance with county, state, federal, national and international regulations. Foster an environment where the importance of worker and food safety is based on proper safe handling of product including maintaining cold chain integrity.
  • Knowledge and effective interpretation and implementation of applicable labor laws. Ability to work in a partnership with the Human Resources department.
  • Hands on involvement in all food safety problems that arise during the shift and developing appropriated solutions and corrective actions and preventative measure for those problems.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a food safety, food manufacturing or or related field, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience preferred, not required
  • 2 years of experience in FSQA role, food safety research or laboratory experience
  • 1-3 years of supervision experience is preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and cost management.

Essential Abilities

  • Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) certification strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as: safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Must have effective organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
  • Working knowledge Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint required.
  • Must have ability to use or learn the ERP computer system (Microsoft Navision).
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to growers, customers, clients, sales, upper management and other employees of the organization is essential.
  • Must have strong math skills and be able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Seasonal travel between Yuma, AZ (Winter) & Salinas, CA (Summer); preferred

Physical Requirements

· Prolonged sitting and terminal use.

· Flexibility to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time as needed.

Work Environment

· Work to be performed in varied environments: indoors in a climate controlled environment, refrigerated cooler production facility, shipping and receiving warehouse, and outdoors in varied weather as needed.

**The FSQA Analyst may serve as back-up for QA Supervisor on another shift at any time (AM/PM)**

Pay: $65,000.00 - $86,000.00 per year
