Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Be on constant alert and observation on appropriate chemical levels in all wash lines while in operation.
- Change and or repair parts for the chemical system (with help from Maintenance team if necessary).
- Manage preventive maintenance program for chemical system.
- Generate reports for chemical deviations, sensor calibrations, sensor replacement, daily reports.
- Maintain, program, and adjustment Walchem chemical injection controllers and pumps.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose any electrical, mechanical and/or communication issues that arise between wash lines, controllers and chemical injection systems.
- Constantly cross reference their records with QAs on the floor
- Maintain constant communication with QAs and production to make injection adjustments to the line with immediacy. This largely dependent on the production run.
- Assist technicians & QA with laser verifications
- Assist quality control department with basic QA technician functions.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Quality team and management
Education/ Licenses/ Certification/Training:
- 2-3 years of experience in the field or in a related area
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry preferred, or other applicable field
- Punctual
- Team player
- Critical thinking
- Technical aptitude - computers, tablets, meters
- Mechanical aptitude – pumps, valves, basic physics
- Mathematics – algebra at minimum
- Responsible, high regard for human safety & food safety
- Bilingual preferred (English/Spanish)
- Travel required between Salinas, CA and Yuma, AZ a plus but not required
- Prolonged standing
- Ability to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, lifting equipment (up to 25 lbs), bending, kneeling, crouching, standing, climbing or walking.
- Hand dexterity and strength.
- Work performed outdoors and indoors in a refrigerated (33 – 39F) production environment
- Chemical Technician may be asked to serve as back-up for Chemical Technician on another shift at any time**
