Along with daily dining, we provide full-service catering for campus events, conferences, and receptions, serving groups of 20 to 2,000 with exceptional care and hospitality. Position Overview
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Catering Manager on Stanford University campus. The Catering Manager is responsible for overseeing front-of-house operations in the cafeteria and managing client-facing aspects of catering events. This role serves as the key liaison between the Sales Manager, Executive Chef, and Kitchen Team, ensuring seamless coordination, clear communication, and exceptional service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Oversee campus catering and cafeteria operations to ensure events run smoothly and exceed client expectations.
- Supervise POS activities, including cash handling, credit transactions, and reporting.
- Communicate with the culinary team to ensure menu items are prepared and presented in timely service.
- Serve as the point of contact for catering clients and cafeteria customers, providing clear communication and professional support in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.
- Ensure proper setup, service, and breakdown of catering equipment, décor, and supplies.
- Maintain and build strong client relationships, ensuring exceptional service and lasting partnerships.
- Address and resolve customer inquiries, requests, and concerns in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Hotel Management, Food Service, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in hospitality, catering, food service, or hotel/event management.
- Previous experience using Toast, Outlook, Dropbox; tech-savvy
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for both client-facing and internal collaboration.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move items up to 40 pounds as needed for event setup and breakdown.
- Comfortable with bending, reaching, and performing repetitive motions related to event preparation and service.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and a high level of service.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required for events.
