JOB TITLE: Dish Room Attendant
REPORTS TO: Kitchen Manager
SUPERVISES: Non-Applicable
EMPLOYMENT AND FLSA STATUS: Classified/Non-Exempt/Hourly
JOB GOAL:
The Dish Room Attendant is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of kitchen smallwares and the kitchen's dish machine.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare the machine for usage and monitor water temperatures, chemicals, and rinse levels.
- Remove as much food from the dishes as possible, utilizing methods such as soaking, scouring, scraping, brushing, etc, before washing via the dish machine.
- Follow all protocols regarding food disposal in appropriate methods.
- Allow clean dishes to air dry and put clean dishes away in their proper place.
- Clean dish machine and dish room area properly at the end of each day.
- Delime the dish machine according to the Kitchen Manager's schedule for routine maintenance.
- Record the dish machine temperature daily and alert the Kitchen Manager if the temperatures are outside the acceptable range.
- Remove all trash from the dish room area and take to outdoor trash receptacles.
- Report any mechanical problems or concerns to the Kitchen Manager as soon as they occur.
- Be knowledgeable on how to prepare the 3-compartment sink and how to test sanitizer levels.
- Sweep and mop the dish room at the end of each day.
- Work in partnership with the Kitchen Manager regarding supply item inventory, including disposables and chemicals to order or that are in excess.
- Assist with the dining room attendants duties as needed.
- Assist with food preparation as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.
- Observes district policies at all times.
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.
- Maintains proper sanitary and safety practices per HACCP guidelines.
- Keeps abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques to improve work methods.
- Must have knowledge of the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs.
- Informs Kitchen Manager of inferior product quality and products not meeting specifications.
- Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Kitchen Manager.

- Customer Service experience
QUALIFICATIONS & ANNUAL REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- One year of food service experience is preferred.
- Annual school safety training per district guidelines.
- Annual Civil Rights training per Federal Child Nutrition guidelines.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs.
- Ability to carry 40 lbs.
- Ability to work in various temperature environments.
- Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations.
- Ability to see for the purpose of reading laws and codes, rules and policies and other printed matter.
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
- Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand a normal conversation.
- Ability to reach in all directions.
