Overview
The Maintenance Technician must have a wide range of experience in maintenance functions and duties. This position requires a highly organized, very hands-on person and has a minimum of two years’ experience. The successful candidate must ensure that all maintenance functions and duties are met or exceeded. The candidate must be a team player, have initiative and require very little supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Must know how to and be capable of safely operating all plant repair tools.
- Must be able to communicate process variables to shift supervisors and maintenance team members.
- Must be team-oriented and able to interact with all levels of plant employees.
- Excellent skills in planning and organizing. Housekeeping skills are essential.
- Must be able to follow a preventative maintenance program throughout the plant.
- Must have the skills to troubleshoot electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical problems at the plant in a highly effective and timely manner.
- Must be organized and able to keep accurate paperwork and reports.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent problem-solving skills – the ability to understand the complexity of the production process and operation.
- This role should be cross-trained sufficiently to be able to function temporarily in the following roles: General Laborer, Production Equipment Operator, and/or Powered Industrial Truck Operator
Required Skills & Abilities
- Excellent problem-solving skills – the ability to understand and manage the complexity of the production process and operation
- Must have the skills to troubleshoot electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical problems at the plant in a highly effective and timely manner
- General understanding of maintenance programs and systems:
- Hydraulic control systems
- Allen Bradley process controls/logic
- Basic and advanced electrical, electronic troubleshooting
- Basic welding/cutting operations
- Basic technical drawing and can read prints
- Basic mathematic knowledge
- Basic computer skills
Education & Experience
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; degree from a vocational school is a plus
- 2 years’ experience preferred in a maintenance role
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs and ladders, frequent squatting and kneeling, extended periods of standing
- Repeated lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent climbing of stairs and ladders up to 40 ft. high
- Be able to stand for approximately 75% of the workday
- Good manual dexterity with hands to pick up small parts, use hand tools, etc.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, including weekends when necessary
- Good visual acuity
- Must be available to work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, as required to meet operational demands
- Must be physically able to work in unconditioned and uncomfortable environments
