Position Title: Programs Director
Status: Exempt, Full-Time (32 hrs per week)
Hours: 32 hrs per week, includes occasional evening and weekend hours
Supervises: 4 program educators
Location: A hybrid working environment (flexibility to work remotely but expected to be in-person at Greener Partners’ facilities and program sites in the greater Philadelphia region as needed)
Reports to: Executive Director
Salary: $60-65k, with an annual cost of living adjustment
Benefits: 160 hours of paid time off (PTO); 16 paid holidays; $400 towards professional development annually; annual $300 cell phone usage reimbursement; retirement plan with 3% matching
POSITION SUMMARY:
As a member of Greener Partners’ leadership team, the Programs Director is responsible for developing, supporting, and evaluating the organization’s work across diverse sectors within Philadelphia, Montgomery County, and Delaware County. Building upon GP’s long-standing relationships across Philadelphia, Montgomery County, and Delaware County, this position advances our mission through strengthening existing partnerships as well as developing new collaborations with institutional and community partners. In close coordination with the Development team, this position works to secure sustainable funding and ensures that programs, grant proposals, and contracts are informed by the most impacted community members and staff closest to the work. The Programs Director provides support and leadership to Greener Partners’ program staff ensuring that all staff have the resources, training, skills, and capacity to successfully deliver high quality programs that have measurable social impact and achieve organizational benchmarks and goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategic Partnership and Program Development (35%)
● New Partnership Development:
○ With support from the GP Leadership team, lead the development of new institutional, community, and philanthropic partnerships to advance GP’s mission
○ Collaborate with GP Leadership to write partnership proposals that are community informed and align with GP’s values and mission
● Program Planning:
○ Ensure excellence and sustainability of Greener Partners programs: identify program goals and the operational and financial resources needed to meet those goals
● Program Funding:
○ Work with GP Leadership to ensure a solid mix of income streams, with a combination of raised and earned income
○ Identify project funding gaps
○ Support GP’s Development team in writing grant proposals by providing content/data, ensuring that proposals are developed with input from the people closest to the work
○ Support GP’s Development team in writing grant reports by sharing program results (outputs and outcomes)
Partnership and Program Management (30%)
● Maintain positive relationships: Strengthen existing school, community, and institutional partnerships
● Program delivery:
○ Oversee the implementation of proposals and contracts
○ Lead community programs as needed and fill in for staff as needed
● Program tracking and reporting: Identify, manage, and track program deliverables and provide reports to the leadership team and Board of Directors
● Program evaluation: Collaborate with partners, research professionals, and GP’s leadership to develop metrics to evaluate programs and measure impact
● Communicating results: Ensure that program impact is effectively communicated in GP collateral and on social media and ensure that key results are communicated to GP’s staff and Board
● External leadership: Represent Greener Partners in strategic initiatives throughout the region, including working groups, conferences, and ad-hoc committees to increase collaboration, build networks, and maximize GP’s impact
Organizational Leadership and Staff Supervision (35%)
● Organizational planning and budgeting: Collaborate with GP Leadership on the development of the organization’s annual operating priorities and budget and help ensure organizational goals are met.
● Organizational systems: Collaborate with GP Leadership on developing systems that guide Greener Partners’ work, such as strategic priorities, team and staff goals, check-ins, program management, and evaluation tools
● Workplace culture: Collaborate with GP’s Leadership team to build a workplace culture and policies and procedures that are anti-racist, inclusive, equitable, trauma-informed, and employee-centric
● Teamwork: Work closely with the Project Manager to oversee growing spaces and collaborate on program duties and deliverables.
● Staff supervision:
○ Directly supervises 4 program educators
○ Assist staff with developing program components that drive meaningful impact in the areas of food access, food sovereignty, and discovery-based learning
○ Ensure that staff have the resources and professional development required to deliver high quality programs and appropriately meet the needs of communities
○ In collaboration with staff leadership team, lead onboarding plan to train new staff and interns
● Program scheduling: Schedule and assign programs and projects to the education team
● Volunteer and intern management: Supervise, communicate, and coordinate with volunteers and interns
● Special projects: Assist with unique projects, such as fundraisers, cultivation activities, and partner projects
This job description outlines the primary responsibilities of the position, however, the employee may be required to perform other related duties as assigned by management to meet the needs of the organization, including occasional reassignment of tasks based on operational demands.

Our Hiring Process: Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until the position is filled. We will begin with Zoom one-hour interviews mid-June . Finalists will be invited to a second-round in-person one-hour interview. We would like the selected candidate to start as soon as possible, ideally by July, though our timeline is somewhat flexible .
Employment is contingent upon providing the following clearances: Federal Criminal History Record, Pennsylvania State Criminal Record Check, and Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, in accordance with Pennsylvania law.
