Job Summary: The Sr. Manufacturing Quality Technician is responsible for leading and enhancing the quality of all products and processes in our elastomer fabrication factory. This includes leading the Material Review Board, handling complex customer complaints, managing critical non-conforming materials, conducting complex inspections, driving quality improvement initiatives, performing data analysis and trending, leading internal audits, and leading process improvement and root cause problem-solving efforts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Material Review Board (MRB): Lead MRB meetings, review and analyze complex defective or non-conforming components, determine the suitable disposition, and implement advanced process improvements to prevent recurrence.
- Customer Complaint Handling: Act as the primary point of contact for complex customer quality issues. Investigate intricate complaints, identify root causes, and work with cross-functional teams to implement robust corrective and preventive actions.
- Non-Conforming Material Handling: Identify, segregate, and manage critical non-conforming materials. Work with the production team to prevent recurrence, coordinate with suppliers for return or replacement as necessary, and drive supplier quality improvement initiatives.
- Inspections: Conduct complex inspections of the manufacturing process, from incoming raw material to finished product. Use cutting-edge inspection tools and follow quality standards to ensure compliance. Implement inspection process improvements as necessary.
- Quality Improvement Initiatives: Identify opportunities for quality improvement, develop and implement strategic initiatives to improve product and process quality.
- Data Analysis and Trending: Use Microsoft Office and other tools to perform advanced data analysis and identify trends related to quality issues and improvements. Communicate findings to the team and use this information to drive continuous improvement efforts.
- Internal Audits: Lead internal audits and ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Process Improvement and Root Cause Problem Solving: Lead process improvement initiatives and root cause problem-solving efforts to enhance product quality and reduce defects. Train and mentor junior technicians in these methodologies.
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience in a Quality Technician role in the manufacturing industry, preferably in elastomer fabrication, with demonstrated leadership in quality improvement.
- Expert knowledge of advanced quality assurance methodologies and tools.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to lead a team, mentor junior technicians, and communicate effectively with various departments.
- Proficient in using cutting-edge inspection tools and equipment.
Preferred Certifications:
- Certified Quality Technician (CQT)
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification
- Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
- Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA)
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds. May require occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
