Position: IT Test Operator/Technician

Location: Durham, NC

Pay: $17 to $23.10/hour

Type: Full-time; Contract  

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 4:30pm to 2:30am or 7:00am to 5:30pm

Greene Resources is seeking an IT Test Operator/Technician to join a growing and dynamic team!   

Job Description: 

• Install and remove GPUs and other computer hardware components from testing units.
• Load GPUs into testing systems, monitor testing processes to ensure continuous operation, and unload components after testing is completed.
• Perform basic troubleshooting when hardware or testing equipment does not operate as expected.
• Identify and escalate hardware failures, testing errors, or system issues.
• Work with computer components such as GPUs, motherboards, processors, memory, power supplies, cables, and other internal hardware. Assemble, disassemble, install, remove, and replace computer components as required.
• Follow established procedures for handling sensitive electronic equipment and computer hardware.
• Work within Linux-based systems or testing environments to support hardware testing activities.
• Monitor test results and accurately document completed work, errors, and equipment issues.
• Measure and inspect completed components to confirm they meet required specifications.
• Follow detailed SOPs and technical work instructions to complete assigned tasks accurately.
• Maintain productivity while ensuring testing processes continue without unnecessary interruption.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Comply with all company safety procedures, rules, regulations, and quality standards.
• Cross-train on additional testing processes, hardware, and equipment as needed.

Position Requirements:

• Previous experience in IT hardware, computer repair, computer assembly, technical support, electronics, hardware testing, or a related technical environment strongly preferred.
• Linux experience strongly preferred, including familiarity navigating or working within a Linux-based environment.
• Hands-on experience building, upgrading, repairing, or taking apart desktop computers, servers, or similar computer equipment strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of internal computer components and the ability to identify common hardware components.
• Experience installing or replacing components such as GPUs, RAM, hard drives/SSDs, motherboards, processors, power supplies, or cables preferred.
• Ability to perform basic hardware troubleshooting and recognize when a component or system is not functioning properly.
• Comfortable working with computer hardware for the majority of the shift.
• Ability to follow technical instructions, SOPs, and standardized testing procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document testing results and hardware issues.
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn new testing software and systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort using basic hand tools for computer assembly and disassembly.
• Ability to handle electronic components carefully and follow proper hardware-handling procedures.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to troubleshoot basic technical issues before escalating them.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team environment.
• Ability and willingness to cross-train across different testing functions.
• Consistent and reliable work history preferred.
• Ability to work the assigned Monday–Thursday schedule consistently.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Candidates with experience in any of the following areas may be especially well suited for this position: Computer building or PC repair, IT hardware support, Desktop or server repair, Linux systems, Data center operations, Computer refurbishment, Electronics testing, Hardware diagnostics, GPU installation or testing, Server assembly, Computer manufacturing or integration, and/or Technical hardware troubleshooting.
• This position is best suited for candidates with a genuine interest in IT and computer hardware rather than candidates whose experience is limited to general warehouse or production work.
