JOB SUMMARY:
Greene County Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as Director of Human Resources. The Director leads and manages all HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, compliance, and personnel operations, while actively taking initiative to gather and analyze data, identify trends, and recommend strategies for continuous improvement.
This individual plays a critical role in shaping the division’s workforce by partnering closely with leadership and staff to foster a positive, collaborative workplace culture that supports excellence in teaching and learning. The ideal candidate is proactive, forward-thinking, and committed to using data and feedback to enhance HR practices and drive ongoing organizational growth.
A consistent, visible presence across the division is essential to strengthen relationships, support staff at every level, and ensure that human resources practices align with the mission and strategic priorities of Greene County Public Schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Champion and lead the recruitment, selection, and retention of high-quality staff.
- Develop and refine application processes to ensure compliance with all federal and state employment laws.
- Oversee employee hiring procedures and ensure alignment with division policies and legal standards.
- Collaborate on staffing decisions, including personnel allotment and internal transfers.
- Maintain accurate, confidential personnel records in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Prepare and deliver timely HR reports and to division leadership, the school board, and state agencies.
- Supervise contract management, including preparation and necessary adjustments.
- Represent the Superintendent in matters involving non-renewals, grievances, and due process hearings.
- Provide data related to the division’s human resources and make recommendations regarding budget, efficiency, and effectiveness.
- Manage programs including workers’ compensation, sick leave bank, and Title IX/harassment investigations.
- Ensure compliance with FOIA and state regulations, including document management and coordination with departments.
- Partner with administrators on staff development initiatives and performance improvement strategies.
- Design and deliver professional development for staff on key HR topics, including workplace professionalism, performance expectations, and employment contract guidelines.
- Monitor emerging HR trends, best practices, and changes in employment law to proactively update policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and fostering a supportive work environment in order to build an exceptional workforce.
- Serve as a visible and accessible presence within school buildings, building trust and connection with staff across the division.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s degree in Human Resources, Educational Leadership, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of five years of leadership experience in administrative or HR roles, preferably in an educational setting.
- Thorough knowledge of employment law, HR operations, and school division policies.
- Proven ability to lead with integrity, communicate effectively, and build strong partnerships across all levels of an organization.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and technology skills.
PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:
Duties are typically performed in both central office and school settings throughout the division, requiring
frequent walking, standing, lifting (up to 40 pounds), and occasional travel to various school sites.
Regular communication and collaboration with staff, school administrators, and the community are
essential.
